21,000 humpback whales live in the northeastern Pacific Ocean and every year, hundreds of them travel thousands of kilometers seeking the warm waters of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo for two fundamental actions in their life cycle: having their young and looking for a mating partner.
The whale watching season begins on December 15 until March 20, during which marine fauna observation tours are offered, in which, in addition to whales, other large species of the sea can be found: turtles, dolphins and manta rays.
